The 2nd FishTival started with a vibrant celebration on its opening day, bringing together farmers, fisherfolk, and agricultural enthusiasts at the Aklan Agri-Aqua Demonstration Farm and Training Center in Brgy. Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan.

The day began with a blessing of farm machinery followed by an opening program graced by Governor Jose Enrique Miraflores, Vice Governor Reynaldo Quimpo, and SP Member Nemesio Neron. Also present were key partners from various Local Government Units (LGUs), Tateh Aquafeeds, Seedworks, and Agricom Visayas, who were recognized with awards of appreciation for their invaluable support in making the event a success.
A special guest, BFAR VI Regional Director Ms. Remia Aparri, was represented by Mr. Richard Cordero, PFO-BFAR Aklan, adding to the significance of the occasion.
₱10 Million Worth of Farm Machinery Distributed
In a significant boost to agricultural productivity, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) facilitated the distribution of ₱10 million worth of farm machinery and equipment to 37 farmer associations and cooperatives from various municipalities in Aklan.
The distributed machinery included:
Hand tractors with trailers
Multipurpose rotary cultivators
Rice threshers
Water pumps with engine sets
Floating tillers
Rice reapers
This initiative underscores the provincial government’s dedication to supporting local farmers in enhancing their productivity and ensuring food security.
Vegetable Seed and Bangus Fry Distribution
In line with the High-Value Crops Development Program of the DILG’s "Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG)" initiative, vegetable farmers received vegetable seed packets (pakbet variety) and essential farm tools.
Moreover, the OPA-Fisheries and Regulatory Division (FERD), led by Mr. Christian V. Deza, distributed Bangus fry to 10 identified fish farmers as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the province's aquaculture sector.

Fish Farmers Trained on Sustainable Aquaculture
A key highlight of the first day was a series of aquaculture lectures conducted by representatives from TATEH Aquafeeds. The training, which focused on Tilapia, Hito, and Bangus production, was attended by 45 fish farmers eager to enhance their knowledge and apply sustainable fish farming practices.
Participants gained insights on efficient feed management, water quality monitoring, and disease prevention — crucial elements in ensuring profitable fish production. The hands-on learning experience reflects the provincial government’s commitment to empowering its fisherfolk.
